Gemotions

Clara was curled up in a large armchair, a book open in her lap but her eyes were closed. The smell of freshly baked bread filled the air, a scent that always made her feel… peaceful. David was in the kitchen, humming along to the radio as he assembled sandwiches for their picnic. She spotted a small, brightly colored notebook on the side table, almost hidden amongst a pile of magazines.

"Goals," it declared, written in bright, bubbly letters. "See a Broadway show. Learn to bake a perfect sourdough loaf. Volunteer at an animal shelter." She knew all about that. She could feel her smile forming as she thought about it.
